Biography
Tatyana Martynova earned her PHD here at Baylor University, TX, with her research focused on studying the sex gene cascade of Culex mosquitoes, which are vectors of serious diseases such as West Nile Virus. She published her findings in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences, including ASMTH. The courses she taught while in graduate school (BIO 1105/1106 Modern Concepts of Bioscience Laboratory) had focused on training students in hands-on laboratory molecular biology techniques as well as on exploring important topics in biology such as cell function, metabolism, genetics, and broader evolutionary and ecological concepts. Having discovered her love for teaching, she now continues as an instructor for Baylor's BIO 1305/1306 "Modern Concepts of Bioscience" — foundational biology lecture courses.
