Academic Success
Faculty Mentors
At Baylor, the critical role faculty play in the lives of students is a hallmark of our institution. By formalizing these key relationships through the role of Faculty Mentor, we hope the Student Success Collaborative can support these faculty as they to continue to promote student success. Academic advisors are firmly committed to students connecting to faculty mentors across disciplines. This list is aimed to help advisors and students know which faculty members are eager to meet with students interested in their academic program(s).
Graduate Writing Center
The Graduate Writing Center is a resource for graduate student writers who desire to improve their writing skills. Consultants help with writing projects at all stages of the composition process - generating ideas, organizing, and revising - whether students are working on academic papers, reports, personal statements and applications, papers intended for publication, theses and dissertations, or grant proposals.
International Student Academic Support
The International Student Academic Support (ISAS) office provides academic and English language support to any international student that might be struggling in their Face-to-Face and/or online classes. This is a partnership of the Center for Global Engagement, the Global Gateway Program, and Academic Support Programs. Specifically, the ISAS is designed to help international students increase English understanding of assignments, upcoming exams, or lectures, make a plan to improve English language skills needed for academic success, provide academic tools and resources to help make online learning more successful, connect with other services available at Baylor (both online and on campus – for example, content tutoring, mentoring, counseling, etc.).
Learning Lab
The Learning Lab offers free assistance to students. Students can receive help in learning to manage their stress, manage their time, take effective notes, sharpen their study skills, effectively study for their tests, improve their reading comprehension, prepare for finals, and more.
Office of Access and Learning Accommodation
The Office of Access and Learning Accommodation (OALA) creates an encouraging, supportive, and caring environment where students with disabilities feel they are accepted and valued as individuals. This is achieved by showing compassion, patience, and open-mindedness as well as through teaching responsibility. Our office and Baylor University are committed to ensuring equal access in all aspects of the college experience for students with disabilities in all of Baylor’s programs, including those taking courses online. Accommodations can include any changes, modifications, equipment, or services requested by students because of their disability—that includes classroom, housing, meal plan or mobility needs.
Paul L. Foster Success Center
The Paul L. Foster Success Center (PLFSC) provides a supportive environment for all students with a wide range of services intentionally designed to undergird and maximize opportunities for success in their Baylor experience. In partnership with faculty and staff, we empower students to strive toward academic excellence and exploration of calling while discovering and fulfilling their personal gifts, goals, and aspirations.

Staff in the Center of Academic Success and Engagement supervise the initial academic support experience of students admitted to Baylor. Several resources are available to enrolled students.
