Faculty Research
Research in the Department of Biology integrates all major subdisciplines of biology. We have structured several of our programs around two subcategories: Cell, Molecular, Health, and Disease (CMHD) and Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal (EEO) biology. Many of our faculty conduct research that crosses the boundaries of these two rather broad categories. Thus, we encourage you to spend time learning about all of our faculty as you explore the breadth of biological research at Baylor.
Graduate Research
At Baylor University, graduate students drive departmental research. Working across a range of Biological Systems, from viruses to global climate change, from harmful algal blooms to cancer, our students are leading the way to advance our mission: Understanding Our World · Healing Our World.
Undergraduate Research
CURES in Bio - CURES in BIO is a Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience. Students enrolled in these courses have the opportunity to present their research a number of times, including at the CURES in BIO Symposium that is held on the last class day of each spring semester.
Undergraduate Student Research Grants
The Jack G. and Noma Jean Folmar Research Fund - The Department of Biology funds undergraduate research through the Folmar Research Fund. Proposals are accepted in the spring semester and awards are made for the next fiscal year. To be eligible for this grant you must be pursuing a research project with a Department of Biology faculty member.
Facilities
Center for Microscopy and Imaging, Center for NMR Spectroscopy, Collaborative Equipment Network for Teaching and Research (CENTR), Mass Spectrometry Center (BU-MSC), Molecular Biosciences Center, Vivarium, Research Resources, and Other Shared Equipment.
